Somali and the Forest Spirit Anime's Video Previews Additional Cast, Opening Song

The official website for the television anime of Yako Gureishi's Somali and the Forest Spirit (Somali to Mori no Kamisama) manga revealed a promotional video, additional cast, and the opening theme song on Monday. The video previews Naotarō Moriyama's opening song "Arigatō wa Kocchi no Kotoba," which he also composed.

The anime will premiere in January, after a delay from this fall. Crunchyroll is co-producing the anime, and it will stream the series as it airs in Japan. Crunchyroll will also host the world premiere of the anime at Crunchyroll Expo on Friday.

The previously announced cast includes:

• Inori Minase as Somali
• Daisuke Ono as Golem
• Hiroki Nanami as Shizuno
• Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Yabashira
• Saori Hayami as Uzoi
• Yuuki Ono as Haitora

Kenji Yasuda (Macross Delta, Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens) is directing the anime at Satelight (Aquarion, Macross Delta). Ikuko Ito (Princess Tutu, The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan) is designing the characters.

Inori Minase, who stars in the show as Somali, is performing the show's ending theme song "Kokoro Somali."

The manga is set in a world ruled by spirits and monsters, and where humans are persecuted and driven to the brink of extinction. In a certain forest, a golem – the guardian of the forest – and a little girl meet. Their journey as surrogate father and daughter to each other begins.

Gureishi launched the manga on Tokuma Shoten's Web Comic Zenyon web manga site in April 2015.
